What stands 128 feet high on top of Holcombe Hill? Peel Tower of course!
On Sunday 3 July 2016, Horsfield & Smith will be abseiling down Peel Tower, raising money for Re>Build Bury, a registered local charity. Re>Build supports the community by:
Providing essential household items by collecting unwanted furniture and white goods, then making them available to families who are struggling to replace broken or worn out items such as beds, sofas and wardrobes. In any one year, between 1500 and 2000 families are helped with furniture, many from ex-armed forces backgrounds, who have mental health or other disabilities, are lone parents or people who have suffered domestic abuse.
The charity also supports local people by offering opportunities for volunteering or undertaking work experience. In doing so, they help prevent thousands of usable goods from being dumped in landfill. Over 50% of Re>Build’s small workforce began with the charity as volunteers and are now able to support others.
